Refuges Dondena
and Miserin are located in an authentic crossroads of big routes which you can
take at the foot of the valleys of the Gran Paradiso National Park: from
Valprato-Soana (east, south-east) towards the col Larissa, from Campiglia
(south) towards the very steep col della Balma below Rosa dei Banchi, from Cogne
(west) towards the col Fenetre de Champorcher, from Champdepraz (north) towards
the Chalamy valley and the col du Lac. The itineraries signaled at international
level are: Alta via n°2 of the Aosta Valley and recently the Via Alpina. The
main peak of the area is Mont Glacier (m. 3.185) which you can reach from the
refuges in 3/4 hours but there are other easier excursions such as Fenetre de
Champorcher, lake Rate and Becca Barmasse (m. 2303). The most demanding
excursion is Rosa dei Banchi (m. 3163) which presents alpine difficulties not to
be underestimated for its exposure and the schistose ground. |
Refuge Dondena, which has hotel facilities, is
particularly suitable for families, children and young people.
